S'mores before dinner? Always yes.
I was in the middle of smoking a Tri tip on our Traeger and all the other dinner prep around 3 pm on a Sunday when our friends asked us if we wanted to join for s'mores up the canyon around 6. I had the best intentions to have dinner finished by the time we left so we could eat on the run but it just didn't happen. I grabbed the best on the go snacks I could and we hit the road. Dane was working up at Sundance so before we lost service I text him a general idea of where we would be and if he could find us he should meet up with us.
We met up just outside of the canyon with our pals and then we all caravaned up together. The kids and I listened to some great tunes and sang as loud as we could then we finally reached the summit. We parked unloaded our goods and just 200 yards from the parking lot was the most quaint little camping site that for us to let our kids run wild. (Credit to Preston for scoping it out that morning!)
Amanda got the fire started and we busted out the S'mores right away. Monty held every big he could get his hands on and Rosie just ran around in the flowers. The kids played in the hammock and ran through the grassy field and fell 40 times each (approx 😂)
After an hour up there and no Dane in sight, I figured he had decided not to try to find us, from of my lack of directions.
Around 7:45 Preston had to run to the car to grab something and ten minutes later he showed up with none other than The Dane Lewis himself! I should have known Dane, the tracker, would have been able to find us.
The kids lit up and their whole demeanor changed they love their dad so much.
There was a rainstorm threatening us all night but somehow it went around us and we got to hang out and play till dark. We headed home and sang Come on up to the house and Stand by your man the whole way
Love this crew of mine and love all the adventures we get to go on.
