Mama's Baked Beans - A Surefire Hit

Mama's Baked Beans - A Surefire Hit

I grew up with my mama making these beans for any outdoor activity and now if there is ever a potluck going on, you can bet I'm bringing these beans along with me. They are always a huge hit and it is SO easy to throw together. You can make this in your crockpot or on the stove really all you are doing is warming and letting the flavors sit together.

MAMA'S BAKED BEANS

2 cans of each - red kidney beans, great northern or navy beans, pork and beans (I prefer Bush's Original)

1 lb hamburger

1/2 Cup Onion finely diced (more if you LOVE onion I don't so I just do enough to taste)

1/2 cup Ketchup

1/2 cup Brown Sugar

1 Tablespoon Ground Mustard

1/2 Tablespoon Cumin

BACON. The more the better but I usually do 8 slices

Pour all your beans in with the juices into your pot and add spices, Ketchup, Brown Sugar start cooking on medium heat. Cook your bacon ( I bake mine at 425 for 25 minutes, then cut into pieces, the crunchier the better) Add bacon to mixture.

Saute your onions in a separate pan then add your hamburger and cook together till cooked through. Add hamburger to other mixture. Let cook all together for 1 hour.

I truly don't know of a place where I feel more relaxed then when I'm by a campfire. That is until I had kids. Now it's just a freaking JOKE! But I still love it in all it's madness. We love getting together with friends for a quick dinner get together and doing pot lucks. What are your go to pot luck recipes??
