Mama Parables - Trials and tummy Time
Because I haven't been able to go to my church services the last two months since having sweet Rosie, and since it's the peak of flu season I have had to search other places for my spiritual growth! So I have started to make parables out of everyday life situations.
Every day I try to make a few attempts at putting Rosie down for Tummy Time. She wails and wails and hates every minute of it. I would compare her to Lamen and Lemuel. She's being a total murmurer.
There are a few things that stood out to me when I was analyzing this struggle for her. Tummy time is a total trial for my sweet newborn. In her little life she doesn't have much to worry about, she doesn't have too many struggles but tummy time... that is her trial. And everyday she has to go through this trial and get through it. Just like we have to get through our trials. There are a couple things that I wish I could explain to Rosie but she just doesn't understand and I feel like they are the same things that our Father in Heaven is trying to tell us too when we are going through our own trials, big or small.
Tummy Time is essential for Rosie's growth - Just like trials are essential for our growth.
Rosie doesn't know it but I am not doing this to hurt her. I have to let her go through this because I know it's going to be better for her in the long run.
Paul V. Johnson said, "Sometimes we want to have growth without challenges and to develop strength without any struggle. But growth cannot come by taking the easy way." he continued, "Not one of the trials and tribulations we face is beyond our limits, because we have access to help from the Lord. We can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us.*"
I see her struggling and I want to help her. Just like our father sees us struggling and wants to help us.
Do you think I enjoy just watching Rosie girl struggle? I do not. I do not at all. I know our Father in Heaven feels the exact same way. I wish I could tell her how great this is for her, that she will be glad I did this to her. Finding gratitude for our trials is the key to getting through them.
Bonnie D. Parkin said, "Mercies and blessings come in different forms--sometimes as hard things. Yet the Lord said, “Thou shalt thank the Lord thy God in all things.”All things means just that: good things, difficult things--not just some things. He has commanded us to be grateful because He knows being grateful will make us happy. This is another evidence of His love."
Tummy time wont last forever and neither will your trial even though it feels like it.
I wish I could sweep Rosie girl up in my arms and a lot of the time I do but sometimes I just have to let the poor girl struggle. Just like I tell Rosie every time she does tummy time, our Father in Heaven is telling us as we go through trials, "This is only a couple minutes sis, I know you can do this. I promise this wont last forever and it's for your good. I love you."
